Premier League Chief Backs UEFA World Cup Boycott Plan

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has backed UEFA’s threat to boycott FIFA competitions amid the growing dispute with FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Speaking to ITV News Sports Editor Steve Scott, Masters also called for a “unity candidate” to challenge Infantino in the next FIFA presidential election.

The comments come as tensions between UEFA and FIFA continue to grow. UEFA has said it has lost confidence in Infantino, while several European football associations have withdrawn their support for his re-election.

The dispute follows Infantino’s controversial plan to create a new commercial company linked to the World Cup. The proposal was eventually withdrawn after strong opposition from football organisations and other stakeholders.

Masters’ comments add to the pressure on Infantino as the debate over FIFA’s leadership continues.
