Sudan's Al Hilal Donate $100,000 to Become Official CECAFA Kagame Cup Partner

Al Hilal SC have donated $100,000, roughly Rwf 145 million, to the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup, making the Sudanese club an official partner of the tournament.

The contribution was announced Friday at the tournament draw at Amahoro Stadium, where CECAFA and the Rwanda Football Federation unveiled the groups, KT Press reported. The competition runs July 24 to August 7, with 12 clubs from East and Central Africa playing at Amahoro Stadium and Kigali Pele Stadium.

Al Hilal are also entered as competitors, drawn alongside defending champions Singida Black Stars of Tanzania, Simba SC, APR FC, Rayon Sports, Vipers SC and Gor Mahia. The Kagame Cup, one of the region's oldest club competitions, has carried the name since 2002 and functions as a key warm-up for CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup sides.

The donation extends a relationship that's been building since Sudan's civil war broke out in 2023 and forced Al Hilal to relocate their operations. The club has been playing out of Rwanda since, and was invited into the 2025/26 BK Pro League as a guest side, a competition they went on to win while using Rwanda as their training and match base.
