Simba SC and Singida Black Stars Chase First Wins at CECAFA Kagame Cup

Tanzania's two representatives at the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup are both searching for their first win of the tournament today, with Group B qualification on the line at Kigali's Pelé Stadium.
Defending champions Singida Black Stars, beaten 2-0 by South Sudan's Jamus FC in their opener, face Somalia's Mogadishu City Club at 1:00 PM WAT (8:00 AM ET / 12:00 GMT). Coach Papy Okitankoyi Kimoto said the team has worked on the mistakes exposed in that defeat and expects a different performance.
Simba SC follow at 4:00 PM WAT (11:00 AM ET / 15:00 GMT) against group leaders Jamus FC, after being held to a goalless draw by Mogadishu City in their own opener. Head coach Steve Barker was blunt about what went wrong. "We controlled large parts of the game," he said, pointing to a lack of end product in front of goal.
Only the group winner and the best-placed runner-up across all three groups advance to the semi-finals, making today's results pivotal for both clubs' hopes, and part of their pre-season buildup to the 2026/27 NBC Premier League.
