Mexico Beat South Africa 2-0 in Adams's Last World Cup Start

South Africa opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-0 loss to hosts Mexico in Mexico City on June 11, a game Jayden Adams started before his death weeks later turned the result into something else entirely.
Fans had little hope after that opening defeat. Bafana Bafana followed it with a 1-1 draw against Czechia, then beat South Korea 1-0 to reach the round of 32 for the first time in the country's history, a run that ended against co-hosts Canada.
Adams played the full Mexico match before being substituted, one of two group games he started. He came off the bench against South Korea and did not feature in the loss to Canada.
Football beyond the final whistle isn't a tagline. It's where the real game lives.
