Kelechi Iheanacho Turns Down New Celtic Deal, Signs for Bursaspor

The 29-year-old forward's one-year deal at Celtic expired after the club missed the deadline to trigger an extension clause, though manager Martin O'Neill later confirmed Celtic wanted him to stay and had put a new offer on the table. Iheanacho had joined Celtic in September following his exit from Sevilla and a loan spell at Middlesbrough.
Speaking in his first interview as a Bursaspor player, Iheanacho said the club's ambitions swayed him. "When I heard about their project, that they wanted to climb up to the Super Lig and also play in Europe, I said that this is a big project and it's very good for me to come and be involved and help the team," he said, adding that his target is promotion back to Turkey's top flight.
