Arsenal and Liverpool Suffer Another Defeat in Pre-season Friendly

Arsenal and Liverpool have both suffered another setback in pre-season, with both sides conceding three goals in their latest matches.
Arsenal were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup, making it back-to-back pre-season defeats for Mikel Arteta’s side. The Gunners showed some attacking promise but again looked vulnerable defensively.
Liverpool also experienced a disappointing result at Anfield, losing 3-2 to Monaco after initially taking a 2-0 lead. The Reds’ collapse highlighted concerns about their defensive organisation, with Monaco scoring three unanswered goals to complete the comeback.
While pre-season results do not always tell the full story, the repeated defensive problems will give both managers plenty to think about before competitive football begins.
The 2026/27 Premier League season is now getting closer, leaving little time for Arsenal and Liverpool to sharpen their defensive structure and find consistency.
For both clubs, the real test will begin when the points start to matter.
