Vancouver were without five players, including Emmanuel Sabbi and Ralph Priso, for this one, per Yahoo Sports, and it showed at the back. This was also a Cincinnati side that had won just five of its first 15 league matches this season and sat seventh in the East before kickoff, according to Sports Mole's preview. A team in that kind of form should not be scoring three unanswered goals against the West's best.
None of this erases what Vancouver have built. They're still the form team of the conference. But a Shield run is decided by nights like this one, on the road, against a mid-table side playing with nothing to lose. Vancouver had the lead and couldn't protect it. That's not a form question anymore. It's a structural one, and it's fair to ask it out loud before the games start mattering even more.
