Malawi Vow to 'Fight' Nigeria's Super Falcons in WAFCON Debut

Malawi make their Women's Africa Cup of Nations debut against defending champions Nigeria on Tuesday, and head coach Lovemore Fazili is not conceding anything before kickoff. "We are going there to fight and get something positive out of the game," he told the Malawi FA website.

The Scorchers arrive on the back of a six-game winless run, including a 4-0 loss to Ghana last week, and sit 153rd in the world rankings against Nigeria's 36th. Fazili pointed to Malawi's qualification for the tournament as proof his side belongs on the stage regardless of the gap on paper. Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, alongside Faith Chinzimu, are expected to lead Malawi's attack.

The Group C opener kicks off at 9:00 PM WAT (4:00 PM ET / 20:00 GMT) at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat. Zambia face Egypt earlier the same day in the group's other fixture at the Olympic Stadium.
