Kaizer Chiefs Defender Miguel Rejects Pressure Ahead of Sundowns Test

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has dismissed suggestions that the club is carrying extra pressure ahead of its highly anticipated Betway Premiership meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speaking to the media before Saturday's fixture, the Angola international insisted that representing one of South Africa's biggest clubs should be viewed as an opportunity rather than something to fear. His comments come as Chiefs head into the match after opening the league campaign with consecutive victories, raising expectations among supporters.

Miguel explained that football pressure is often misunderstood. Drawing from his own life experiences, he said genuine pressure comes from situations beyond the pitch, such as being unable to help loved ones during difficult moments.

"There is no pressure," Miguel told reporters. He added that responsibility comes with wearing the Kaizer Chiefs shirt, but that responsibility should never be confused with fear.

The centre-back believes approaching a major fixture with the wrong mindset can become a disadvantage. Instead, he wants Chiefs to embrace the occasion against the reigning South African champions.

Miguel described facing Mamelodi Sundowns as a privilege and said the squad is focused on delivering a disciplined performance rather than allowing outside expectations to influence them.

The clash is expected to provide Chiefs with their toughest test of the season so far, offering an early indication of how far the club has progressed after its strong start.

Miguel's message reflects a growing confidence within the Amakhosi camp, where players are determined to match expectations through performances rather than talk. Whether that belief translates into a positive result against Sundowns will become clear when the two Premier Soccer League heavyweights meet this weekend.
