Gio Reyna completes move to Strasbourg after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach

Strasbourg have confirmed the signing of USMNT midfielder Gio Reyna from Borussia Monchengladbach, with reports from the Athletic putting the fee at around $4 million. Reyna has signed through 2031.

It's Reyna's fourth club in as many years after struggles with injuries and playing time at Dortmund, Nottingham Forest and Gladbach. He managed just 520 minutes across 19 appearances in his single season at Gladbach, contributing one goal and one assist. Gladbach's Head of Sport Rouven Schroder said the club wanted to reshape and reduce the size of the squad, adding that Reyna "unfortunately only showed glimpses of his potential" before wishing him well in France.

The move comes off the back of a strong World Cup for the 23 year old, who started all five of the USMNT's games and scored the opener in a 4-1 win over Paraguay. He now has 10 goals in 43 caps for his country.

Strasbourg begin their Ligue 1 campaign at home to Marseille on August 21, with warm-up friendlies against Freiburg and Newcastle still to come.
