Ferran Torres set to snub new Barcelona contract as PSG prepare Paris move

Ferran Torres has cooled on staying at Barcelona after concluding the club's latest contract proposal doesn't match his value to the squad, with Paris Saint-Germain now the clear frontrunner for his signature.

According to ElDesmarque, Torres views the offer on the table as insufficient on both financial and sporting terms. He wants a significant pay rise and, just as importantly, clear assurances over his role under Hansi Flick, an issue he feels Barcelona haven't addressed properly given his output.

That output is hard to argue with. Torres has made 207 appearances for Barcelona since arriving from Manchester City in January 2022, scoring 65 goals, including 21 in 49 matches last season alone. He also scored the winner as Spain beat Argentina in the World Cup final, the kind of moment that tends to sharpen a player's sense of his own market value.

PSG have sensed the opening. Luis Enrique has earmarked a prominent role for Torres in Paris and the club have put forward an offer well above what Barcelona are currently proposing. Barcelona, aware his contract runs out in 2027 and reluctant to lose him for nothing, have set a €50 million asking price, a sale that would help fund a possible move for Julian Alvarez.

No final decision is expected until Torres returns from his post-season break, but the direction of travel currently points to Paris.
