Barcelona confirm Karim Adeyemi transfer from Borussia Dortmund on five year deal
Barcelona have completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for a reported €29 million, add-ons included. The Germany international has signed a five year contract running until June 2031, Barcelona confirmed on the club's official website.
The 24 year old arrives as Barcelona's second signing of the summer after Anthony Gordon, filling the gap left by Lewandowski's move to Chicago Fire and the end of Marcus Rashford's loan spell. Adeyemi scored 36 goals in 146 appearances across four seasons at Dortmund, a run that included the club's run to the 2024 Champions League final.
Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken said the decision to sell was mutual once Adeyemi made his intentions clear. Speaking to the club's official channels, Ricken said the forward had been "an important part of Borussia Dortmund for the past four years" and that both sides agreed to "pursue different paths" once Adeyemi asked to join Barcelona.
Adeyemi, who joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022, thanked the club and its fans in a farewell message on the same channels.
At Barcelona, Adeyemi reunites with Flick, the manager who gave him his senior Germany debut in 2021. He gives Flick a forward capable of playing either wing or through the middle, even as the club continues chasing Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez. Barcelona now turn to finishing pre-season before their La Liga title defence begins.
