Barcelona agree €76.5m deal to sign Rodri from Manchester City

Barcelona's move for Rodri is in its closing stages, with the Manchester City midfielder authorised to fly to Catalonia for a medical ahead of completing his transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Rodri is expected to sign a four-year contract running to 2030.

Romano reports the fee is structured as a €60 million fixed sum, with a further €6 million in easily achievable add-ons and €10 million in tougher bonuses. David Ornstein puts the overall package at up to €76.5 million, with City realistically expected to receive at least €71.5 million once the more attainable bonuses are included.

The move would see Rodri return to La Liga seven years after leaving Atletico Madrid, and comes with City set to lose the Ballon d'Or winner in the final 12 months of his contract. Barcelona had already reached personal terms with the player roughly two weeks ago, with the past few days spent finalising the financial structure between the two clubs, per Barca Universal.

Barcelona are targeting a presentation as early as Wednesday, with the club hoping to unveil Rodri before facing Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy. That would give him time to settle before Barcelona open their La Liga campaign away to Elche on Sunday, August 23.

Rodri would become Barcelona's fourth major addition of the summer, following Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund and Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge, with Joao Cancelo also expected to join in the coming days.
