Maximilian Ibrahimovic completes permanent move from AC Milan to AZ Alkmaar
Maximilian Ibrahimovic has completed a permanent transfer from AC Milan to AZ Alkmaar, ending his four-year association with the Italian club.
AZ confirmed the move in an official statement, saying the 19-year-old winger "will have the opportunity to recover from a slight injury and then join Jong AZ," adding that no timeline has been set for his debut. AC Milan confirmed the departure separately, stating "AC Milan can confirm that Maximilian Zlatan Seger Ibrahimović has joined Alkmaar Zaanstreek on a permanent basis. The Club wishes Maximilian all the best for the continuation of his career."
The move brings him back to the Netherlands, where he spent the first half of this year on loan at Jong Ajax, Ajax's reserve side, after joining in January on a deal that gave Ajax a purchase option worth around €3.5m. Persistent injuries limited him to four appearances during that loan, and Ajax did not exercise the option.
Ibrahimovic joined Milan's academy in 2022, trained with the first team in February 2023 in a session his father attended while recovering from injury, and made his senior debut for Milan Futuro in Serie C in January 2025. His only matchday involvement with Milan's senior side came as an unused substitute in the 2025-26 Supercoppa Italiana defeat to Napoli.
Operating as a winger rather than the target-man role his father made famous, he now aims to build a career in a league where Zlatan won two Eredivisie titles and a KNVB Cup during his own spell at Ajax.
