Issa Diop completes Ipswich Town move from Fulham on four-year deal
Ipswich Town have signed Morocco international defender Issa Diop from Fulham, the newly promoted club confirmed on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year deal running until 2030 after passing his medical. Ipswich haven't disclosed the fee, though Goal.com reports European estimates putting the deal at around €10 million, roughly £8.5 million.
Diop arrives with his stock high after a strong World Cup with Morocco, where he scored a stoppage-time goal against the Netherlands to help the Atlas Lions reach the quarter-finals across five appearances. Ipswich described the 194cm centre-back as one of the more aerially dominant defenders in the game, pointing to his reading of the game as a key asset.
He started his career at Toulouse, captaining the side at a young age, before a club-record move to West Ham United in 2018. A switch to Fulham followed in 2022, where he made more than 75 Premier League appearances, taking his overall total in the competition past 170.
