Inter Agree €25m Deal for Anan Khalaili to Replace Dumfries

Certainty level: here we go. Inter have a deal in place with Union Saint-Gilloise for Anan Khalaili worth €25 million fixed plus add-ons, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on July 9. Personal terms with the player were agreed days earlier, with the club-to-club agreement finalized after a face-to-face meeting between the two sides. Khalaili is expected in Milan for his medical either July 10 or 11, Football Italia reported.
Why Inter needed him
Inter moved for Khalaili after missing out on their first-choice target, Marco Palestra, who joined Chelsea, and after Denzel Dumfries's move to Real Madrid left a gap at right wing-back. Inter's opening offers, first around €20 million and later €23 million, were both rejected by Union Saint-Gilloise before the two sides settled on €25 million against the Belgian club's €30 million asking price, per Football Italia.
The Maccabi Haifa detail
The deal includes a sell-on clause worth 15 percent of any future transfer fee for Khalaili's former club, Maccabi Haifa, who sold him to Union Saint-Gilloise for €6.5 million in 2024. Napoli had also been close to a deal for Khalaili earlier in the window but couldn't progress it without first raising funds through sales, and Como had shown interest as well.
Khalaili turns 22 in September and was a key figure for Union Saint-Gilloise last season, contributing six goals and six assists in 42 competitive games, including appearances against Newcastle and PSV in last season's Champions League league phase.
Football beyond the final whistle isn't a tagline. It's where the real game lives.
