Chelsea Confirm Valentin Barco Signing From Strasbourg on Eight-Year Deal
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Valentin Barco from Strasbourg, with the 21-year-old Argentina international putting pen to paper on a contract running until 2033, Sky Sports reports.
Barco's route to Stamford Bridge has taken in Brighton before a move into Ligue 1 with Strasbourg. Last season he contributed to 12 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions.
He arrives with a World Cup final run behind him, having been part of the Argentina squad that made it to the final last month. Barco was an unused substitute in the semi-final win over England, but drew attention after full time for a heated exchange with Jude Bellingham, running onto the pitch to celebrate in front of England's players after Enzo Fernandez's equaliser.
He'll join up with Xabi Alonso's squad once his mandatory post-World Cup break has concluded.
